Our client, who is based on the outskirts of Southend, Essex, have been in the manufacturing industry for over 40 years and are now the UKs leading manufacturer and distributor of their products and they are recruiting a Production Operative/Supervisor due to a retirement in their team.

This role will support Production Managers across 5 departments in their absence, so a percentage of your time will be working in production (packaging department) as a production Operative. When Managers are on holiday/off sick you will stand in and manage that department for the duration. You will be given full training in all areas of the factory and will be offered external courses for team leader skills, Health & Safety and many more if required.

Role and Responsibilities whilst covering for department Managers will include:

• Check machines are safe and in full working order
• Check programme and liaise with necessary Departmental Managers
• Check quality and product specifications of all products, ensuring material is used to specification
• Quality control checks on raw material
• Monitor Health and Safety
• Organise and manage staff members
• Promote a well disciplined and fair working environment
• Training of staff
• Daily running of product/pallet labels
• Completion of regular paperwork
• Liaise with the maintenance team where necessary

Role and responsibilities when working as a Production operative will include:

• Machine Feeding
• Quality control checks on packaged products
• Monitor Health and Safety
• Packing
• Other ad-hoc support duties such as collecting materials

Experience/Skills required for the Production Operator/Supervisor are:

• An understanding of Health and Safety within a manufacturing environment
• Experience of working within a Manufacturing organisation
• Leadership skills will be an advantage

• 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 5pm Fridays.
