JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Machine Operator

Reporting to:Production Senior Team Leader

Job Purpose Summary/Accountabilities: Safe, efficient and effective running of the Weighing, Bagging and Checkweighing machinery on an allocated Packing line

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
·To ensure completion of all orders within customer specifications, meeting agreed performance targets.
·To complete relevant Nav 13 checks and processes
·To ensure products are packed to the agreed specification
·To ensure effective communication at all times with key colleagues and the Senior Team Leader
·Proactive Interaction with the Engineers & Process Techs on machine related issues and opportunities
·To ensure quality checks - (FPQA every 20 mins) are completed in line with company procedures.
·Engage in departmental continuous improvement activities
·To comply with shadow board issuing procedures, ensuring tools are stored back in the box/board when not in use.
·To take responsibility for ensuring work area is tidy and safe at all times
·To ensure batch sheets and label check sheets for all product runs are accurately checked before signed off.
·Proficient at operating machinery within their area of responsibility

H&S Responsibilities:
·To be responsible for your own safety and to not jeopardise the health and safety of others.
·To report accidents, near misses and unsafe practices or conditions to the Senior Team leader or Shift Manager
·To ensure the safe operation of machinery in accordance with the safe system of work.

Environmental Responsibilities:
·To reduce environmental waste where possible by e.g. turning off machines when not in use, turning off lights etc.
·To correct, or report, poor environmental practices or conditions.
Quality & Documentation Responsibilities:
·To ensure products are packed to the agreed specification
·To ensure for all areas under your direct control that all documentation is being completed accurately and in accordance with site quality procedures.
·Following the start of each shift, ensure that all relevant pre-start checks have been carried out and signed off.

Skills and Qualifications:
·Have experience of working in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
·Proficient at operating machinery within their area of responsibility
·Be able to pay close attention to detail and adhere to company procedures
·Be a decision maker, able to prioritise and work under pressure
·Have excellent communication and organisational skills
·Be flexible (holiday and absence cover across all shifts as necessary)
·Be Self motivated
